I hired Bernard Humphrey-Gaskin, principal of ABP Chartered Architects, Bromley when I was wanting a 2 story side extention on my family home in Bickley, Kent
Bernard Humphrey-Gaskin of ABP Chartered Architects insisted I signed a contract covering the whole project From start to finish, he gave me verbal assurances that no stage of the project would begin without my specific verbal go-ahead
After paying ABP for a survey on the property I lost my job, I immediately called Bernard Humphrey-Gaskin and asked him to shelve the project until I was back in gainful employment, he seemed somewhat desperate & panicky, he came across as more concerned that he'd lost his next few months income, he immediately started going on about his "Watertight Contract" and then asked me if I had received "The Schemes" he claimed to have mailed me the day before, I told him I had no idea what "the Schemes" were and reminded him I had not given him the go-ahead to anything other than the survey which I had already paid him for
3 days later I received some rough sketch ideas for possible types of extensions, these being "The Schemes" they were mailed late in the evening from Croydon mail centre the day AFTER I had told him to shelve the project
Several month later his wife and ABP Chartered Architects practice manager Mrs Maria Humphrey-Gaskin telephoned and requested that I paid her £500 for "the schemes", I told her to speak to her husband as this was not what we agreed
Several months later again Maria Humphrey Gaskin called our home and accused us of lying as to our state of employment,reminding us we said we would recommence the project once we were financially able to do so, she refused to believe that we were unable to proceed and suggested we were deceiving her
Andrew Scott, a partner in ABP Chartered Architects at the time styling himself as their "Legal Contracts Expert" then wrote to us saying that they had a "Watertight Contract" presenting us with a bill for several thousand pounds for the useless sketched "Schemes" they had taken it upon themselves to do and threatened to sue us if we didnt pay within a matter of days
ABP Chartered Architects took us to Bromley County Court for "Default" on this invoice, all 3 employees at the time, Bernard & Maria Humphrey-Gaskin plus Andrew Scott conspired to perjure themselves in court in order to "win" the money
After the money had been paid our story was put on the internet principally on some consumer watchdog websites, Mrs Maria Humphrey-Gaskin alleged that this was "Harassment" and "Slander" and badgered Bromley Police for several weeks urging them to arrest us, SHE FAILED after the Crown Prosecution Service pointed out that this was a civil dispute and we are legally entitled to publish the TRUTH and our honest opinions, not a criminal matter
Possibly by coincidence, shortly after Greek Cypriot Mrs Maria Humphrey-Gaskin (Nee Stylianou)failed to get her clients turned victims arrested, we started to receive a barrage of vile racist abuse and threats of death and violence from a Greek Neo-Nazi organisation known as Hrysi Avyi (Golden Dawn) a bunch of Rabid Turk hating racists who persistently targeted my Turkish wife & 2 half Turkish daughters
This began several years ago yet Maria Humphrey-Gaskin has obsessively persisted with her false malicious allegations against me in recent weeks, this abuse is predatory and MUST STOP NOW!

Summary of facts - Rogue Trader Warning
Summary of material FACTS plus my LEGAL and honest opinion that ABP Chartered Architects of Bromley Kent Conned, Cheated and Abused me, their client
FACT As a simple consumer / home owner I employed ABP Chartered Architects several years ago when I wanted a 2 story side extension on my home in Bickley, Kent
FACT Bernard Humphrey-Gaskin insisted that I signed a contract that I believed committed me to having him complete the full project, I objected, saying that for example I may only wish to proceed to the planning permission stage and wouldn't want him to sue me for not fulfilling the whole build with him in charge of it, he assured me that these contracts were "standard procedure" that I was always in control and I could stop the process at any time, he also assured me that NO STAGE OF THE PROJECT WOULD BE STARTED WITHOUT MY EXPLICIT CONSENT I signed on the basis of these his verbal reassurances, he seemed desperate for work and I wanted to trust him
FACT Ms Maria Stylianou aka Mrs Maria Humphrey-Gaskin came to our property and completed a survey, were were soon sent some rough plans, the results of this survey, representing phase 1 of the CONTRACT and presented with a bill for well in excess of a thousand pounds which we promptly paid
FACT shortly afterwards the "technology bubble" burst and I found myself suddenly an unemployed man in a decimated market sector, I called Bernard Humphrey Gaskin to explain my situation & request he shelved the project, his initial reaction seemed like one of annoyance that he'd lost his next few months income, he seemed panicky and I started to hear phrases such as "But we have a watertight contract" etc.
He then started referring to "The Schemes" asking "did you get the schemes? we sent you yesterday" I said I had no idea what "The schemes" were and indeed had not authorised him to do anything other than the survey which I had already mailed him a cheque for. I became concerned by his demeanour and said I would confirm my shelving the project in writing, he assured me that this wasn't necessary and said he could wait until I was back in gainful employment, we agreed that I would continue the project once I was in a financial position to do so again

FACT several months went by and my situation did not improve, indeed the technology sector took several years to recover, Bernard Humphrey Gaskin was observed by my neighbours on a number of occasions, driving slowly by my home, getting out of his car and peering over the fences at the side where the desired extension would be
FACT several months later again, Maria Humphrey Gaskin telephoned us and seemed to be in a desperate state, she told us we had not paid them for "The Schemes" and asked us for the sum of £500 immediately, I told her I was not in a position to give her any money & asked her to clarify matters with her husband Bernard because this was not what he and I had agreed in our telephone conversation
FACT More than a year later we received a late night telephone called from Mrs Maria Humphrey Gaskin, she seemed somewhat tipsy, she asked if I remembered agreeing to recommence the project once I'd found suitable employment, she said, "and are you now in suitable employment?" I told her that I was still not in a financial position to proceed, she nonchalantly answered "That's Interesting!" as if she didn't believe me, I was annoyed by her accusing tone and hung up
FACT We suddenly received an "Invoice" demanding almost £3000 be paid within 14 days accompanied by a letter from a Mr Andrew Scott, a partner in the firm at that time who styled himself as their "Legal contracts expert" he stated that the contract I signed was all that mattered in a court of law, not any verbal agreements or reassurances I'd had from Bernard Humphrey Gaskin, I disagreed with him and the next thing I received was a summons to Bromley County Court for "Non Payment" of this "Invoice"
FACT Bernard & Maria Humphrey-Gaskin and Mr Andrew Scott all gave evidence in court, they all stuck to the same story and denied that the verbal agreements between myself & Bernard Humphrey Gaskin had ever taken place, They gave themselves glowing character references waxing lyrical about their concern for the planet, their roles as school governors and church wardens etc whilst DELIBERATELY MISREPRESENTING THE TRUTH in order to extort money out of me, Andrew Scott the "Legal contracts expert" knew enough about law to win the case on the basis that written "watertight" contracts always trump verbal ones.
It is my sincere, legal & honest opinion that these three people conspired to commit perjury simply in order to "win" more money out of an unfortunate, destitute client
The district judge summed up by saying that he believed I was clearly an honest man he went as far as to say that the fact that I was telling the truth "simply shone through", HOWEVER he had to follow what the written contract stated and therefore it was ordered that I pay these sharks several thousand pounds within 14 days
FACT I took a cheque for the full amount into ABP Chartered Architects Bromley office, I was greeted by the gloating face of Maria Humphrey Gaskin looking like the cat who'd got the cream, I handed over the cheque for the full amount and asked her to sign a letter saying that this was in final settlement and represented full termination of the contract her Husband had conned me into signing, to add insult to injury Bernard Humphrey Gaskin objected and insisted that he scrutinise the letter before anyone signed it, he actually had the gall to look down on me, his former client turned victim, as if I were now somehow conning HIM !
FACT I published my story, a true and legal statement of these facts on a consumer watchdog website, I also copied the information on several web pages that I owned in order that other unsuspecting consumers would not be cheated in the same way by these rogue traders, people who in my opinion were acting like common crooks whilst hiding behind a cloak of professional respectability, people who were abusing the courts and the law of contract in order to extort as much as they can from their clients
FACT Maria Humphrey Gaskin then made a series of frivolous complaints about me to Bromley police in order to try and silence me, she maliciously alleged that my voicing these honest opinions of ABP RIBA Architects and publishing the FACTS about my awful experiences with them were "Harassment" and "Defamation"
FACT Recent FOIA disclosure shows that Maria Humphrey-Gaskin persistently badgered Bromley Police and insisted that I be arrested for "Harassing" her, I had not been anywhere near ABP Architects or contacted them in any way since handing over the money they had lied in court to "win" from me, the police eventually submitted her "evidence" to the CPS who quite correctly responded by pointing out that no crime had been committed and deeming that this was clearly a civil dispute rather than a criminal matter, the fact remains however that Maria Humphrey-Gaskin of ABP Chartered Architects wasn't content with simply extorting money from her client, she went out of her way to try and CRIMINALISE him too!
